Default Settings

Currently MTPro has nine user-configurable Default Settings.
They are initially set by us, but they can be reset and Saved by you at any time, either at LogIn or via 'User Defaults' on the main screen's menu bar:

Menu Bar

Click on the Option for Details:

  • Maximum Liability per Transaction is probably the most important Default Setting

Maximum Liability is the Maximum amount that MTPro will risk an any one Transaction.

It is set initially, by us at 50, but you can reset it at any time,

For Example if Maximum Liability is set to £100, on any Back transaction MTPro will not stake more than £100, even if you enter £120 in the Stake Box on the current Tracker.

More importantly ,on any Lay transaction MTPro will limit your liability to £100.

For example if you attempt to Lay £100 @ 3.0 (giving you a liability of £200) MTPro will automatically reduce the Lay Stake to £50 so that your exposure, on the current transaction, is limited to £100 ... a popup will warn you that this has been done.

MTPro will, of course, respect any Stake (above £2 and below the Default Maximum) that you enter in the Stake box on the One-Click interface.
You can, of course, have as many Back or Lay transactions as you wish on any selection.

You can change your Maximum Liability, or any other Defaults, at any time via the Default Settings popup.
Just enter the new value and hit 'Save'.:

    Defaults Saved

Your Defaults are Saved as preferences in the Java Runtime Environment.

This is a new procedure ... previously (before MTPro vesion 2.3.1), Defaults were saved to an .xml file.

From version 2.3.1, MTPro will not find the old .xml file, so the first time you run MTPro, you should set and save your Defaults anew.

They will then be applied to all subsequent sessions.

Obviously, if you use MTPro on more than one computer, you will have to Save your defaults on each machine.

  • Maximum Display Stake

    Stakes Dropdown

On each Tracker, there's a Stake Dropdown:

The value that you choose for Maximum Display Stake is the highest value that will be shown on the Stake Dropdown.

Unless you never Lay at odds on (i.e. at Prices less than 2.0) then you should always set the Maximum Display Stake at a higher value than your Default Maximum Liability - remember that, when Laying, the Stake is the Backer's stake, so, for example if you wish to risk £100 laying a selection @ 1.25, then the stake would be £400, so it's convenient to have that stake available on the Stake dropdown.

You can change the Maximum Display Stake on the Default Settings Panel, and the increments below your maximum will be adjusted appropriately.

The Stake dropdown is simply to speed things up by allowing you to select a stake without using your keyboard, but, if you need a value that isn't present on the dropdown, just type it in, as in the lower image, and hit Return.

When you open a Tracker the Stake dropdown automatically shows your Default Maximum Liability.

Don't confuse Maximum Liability with Maximum Display Stake!

The Maximum Display Stake has no effect on your Maximum Liability.

  • Bet Display Refresh Rate

  • The Refresh Rates for Market Data (current prices, last Matched Price etc) and the Refresh Rate for data about your Matched / unMatched bets need not be the same.

For Market Data, we set an Application minimum refresh rate of 0, which means that, a new request for Market Data will be sent as soon as a response to the previous request has been received.

For Bet Displays, you may not require such a rapid refresh rate (in fact we set an Application default of 3 seconds, but even this may be more frequent than you often need).

Setting the default to, e.g. 5 seconds, will reduce screen flicker, and, depending on the quality of your Internet connection, may reduce 'queuing' of calls to the API server.

There's a 'Bets R/r' (refresh rate) dropdown on each Tracker, where you can adjust the setting, for example if you want to check at an increased frequency to see whether a currently unMatched bet is being matched.

NB the Bet Display Refresh rate has no effect on the speed with which Bets are placed ... just their display!

  • Show Account Funds on Betting Panels

Shows the funds available in your Betfair account for the Exchange (UK/Global or Australian) of the market you are currently tracking.
It is a requirement of new UK legislation that we make the display of funds your Default option.

If it's too obtrusive (or too depressing!) you can 'untick' it on your Defaults Display Panel.

  • Stake Mode Chooser

On every Event and Single Tracker there is a Stake Mode Dropdown

The Stake Mode dropdown allows you to select whether your Bets are submitted to a Stake or to a Liability.

Obviously when placing a Back Bet, stake = liability, but when submitting a Lay, it can be quite useful to bet to a Liability.

MTPro calculates the appropriate Stake for your Selected Liability before submitting the bet.

Unless you specify otherwise, all Trackers open with the stake mode set to 'Stake', but you can change this if you wish by setting 'Liability' on your Defaults Panel.

  • Background Color

A few Users have complained that they suffer from glare from MT Pro's white background, so we've added the option to choose a different Background color.

Very few of the available colors are suitable!

But choosing a very light shade of gray (most easily done from the HSB tab of the chooser) may find something that's both to your taste and practical.

The new color will show on the Defaults Panel and all subsequent Trackers (though not on the Main Panel).

However, if you save your Defaults with new color, then the next time you open MTPro the main panel will also be in your chosen color.

  • Call Saving Rate

The Call Saving Rate is present as an option if you are concerned that you may be affected by the Betfair Data Request Charging system to be introduced by Betfair on 14 April 2008.

Details of the System are: on the Betfair website

Briefly out Data Call Saving Rate allows you to set a default slower rfresh rate for all but the currently Active Tracker.

Full details of how the Data Call Saving Rate works are at: Betfair Data Charges
